Reus, Spain

Reus is another small town close to Barcelona with an international airport – and another small town that most people choose to skip. But after our ‘success’ with visiting Girona, it seemed worthwhile to take the opportunity to check it out. And while Reus is not nearly as charming as Girona – probably because it’s a lot more modern – it had a score of attractive modernista buildings and was pretty lively with lots of people out and about on 1 May which was a public holiday as well. So we whiled away a pleasant hour in the town square, watching people socialise – which for some reason can be really quite fascinating, especially when you don’t understand what they’re saying.
